Scene: your favourite SQL consultant is working on a tricky left outer join when the phone rings.
Me: “Hello.”
Voice (adult female, somewhat hesitantly): “Hello?”
Me (with friendly enthusiasm; who knows, it could be a new client): “Hello!”
Voice (guardedly): “Oh, I'm sorry, I must have the wrong number.”
Me (somewhat disappointedly): “What makes you say that?”
Voice (more confidently): “Because you're not her.”
Me (emphatically): “No. I kicked her out. I told her I was tired of her crap, and never to come back.”
Voice (choking with laughter): “Okay, thanks.”
Me (laughing): “No problem.”
Voice (warmly): “Okay, you have a nice day.”
Me: “Okay, bye.”
I love that line.
